United States President, Donald Trump is in the fight of his life, and it looks as if he has met his match. After two rounds, President Trump is getting his butt handed to him by Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

Trump opened strong, with a quick one two punch, a demand for $5.7 billion dollars for a wall, or he would shut down the government. Pelosi blocked by saying no, leaving herself open for a right cross by Trump, a partial shutdown on December 22, 2018.

Since then, Trump has been bobbing and weaving, refusing to give any ground for anything less than complete surrender to his wishes. Trump’s continuous low blows brought the government to its knees.

Then Pelosi came back strong, hitting Trump right where it hurt, his ego. She used his own tactics against him, stating that due to security risks caused by unpaid security staff, she could not allow the State of the Union Address to move forward until the government reopened.

This tactic sent Trump reeling. He tried to counterpunch by denying Pelosi the opportunity to visit US troops in Brussels, Egypt and Afghanistan, but Pelosi merely shrugged it off. Trump tried to get around her guard by advising her that the Secret Service said there was no security risk, but she quickly blocked him with a firm “NO!” He attempted to get around Pelosi’s guard, first by coming up with other excuses to get into the House, to which she simply said “NO!”, then by threatening to get an alternative venue. Pelosi was unfazed, holding her ground and replying that the President can speak wherever he wished, except for the House, until the government reopened.

President Trump was staggered. Finally, he backed down, conceding defeat in this round, and saying that the State of the Union Address will be delayed. Round Two went entirely to Pelosi.

This battle is far from over, but it does stand out as a defining moment for President Donald Trump. It may very well be the first time since his childhood that a woman saying no has ever had any effect on what he wanted to do. This should also be a defining moment for women. Since Donald Trump may very well be a living, breathing representation of everything that is wrong with the male species, Nancy Pelosi may be the rallying point for the #MeToo movement. Think about it. A woman who said no to President Donald Trump and actually made him listen and back down. Many men can’t even claim that victory.

If Nancy Pelosi can be hailed as a positive role model for today’s woman, her antithesis would have to be Lara Trump, wife of Eric Trump and daughter-in-law of President Donald Trump. Lara Trump got attention this week by speaking out to the 800,000 government workers who are either not working, or are working without pay during the government shutdown, that is now going into its 34th day.

Lara said, “We get that this is unfair to you, but this is so much bigger than any one person. It is a little bit of pain, but it’s going to be for the future of our country and their children and their grandchildren, and generations after that will thank them for their sacrifice now.”

Way to sympathize with them, Lara. Why not just tell them to go eat cake? You can just tell that she feels their pain as she takes her limousine back to her multimillion dollar home to eat steak and lobster, washed down with a vintage champagne. No, I don’t think that this is the woman your daughters should aspire to be like.

Now Nancy Pelosi on the other hand, now that is a woman to watch. Keep your eyes open for Round Three of The War of The Wall.
